Principal's Message

January 2022

David Smith, Principal MHSHappy New Year! We turn the calendar to 2022 with the hope that we can begin to put COVID-19 behind us. With a watchful eye on the pandemic numbers, we will continue to plan for MHS events.

Winter athletics are in the middle of their conference schedules. Please monitor our website and Facebook page for possible restrictions on spectators at events. Spectator restrictions will be a fluid protocol based on the current pandemic numbers. As a reminder, masks must be worn at all indoor events.

Our Seniors will participate in a Senior Ski Trip Day on January 20th, 2022. This is a new event created by the Senior class officers and their class advisor, Caroline Wills. The ski trip looks to be an exciting day for the Class of 2022, filled with memories and hopefully the start of a new tradition.

The MHS Musical is scheduled for February 10th, 11th, and 12th. This year the show will be “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The show was selected as an encore of the first production under the direction of Anne Gilvarry and Jake Fowle a decade ago. “Charlie Brown” was the first show performed when the yearly musical was brought back to the MHS stage after a long hiatus. Shows will start at 7 PM each night. Ticket information will be posted in February on the website and Facebook page.

Academically, our students are approaching the mid-point of the school year. Mid Term exams for high school students will be on January 20th and 21st. Junior High students will have regular classes during this time. I encourage all students to take advantage of the extra help sessions offered after school. This is an excellent way to navigate the increased rigor found at this point in the school year.

Thank you for your continued support of our goal to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, healthy and in school.
