Dear Parent/Guardian:

Once again, as summer begins to draw to a close a new school year is just around the corner. The Mattituck Junior-Senior High School will be conducting its annual seventh grade orientation on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30 PM. The purpose of this program is to provide students and families with information regarding the opening of school, as well as the overall school year. Over the course of the evening, we will discuss lockers, class schedules, basic situations and obstacles students may encounter during the first few days of school. This is also an opportunity for students to bring in school supplies and place them in their lockers.

The format of our orientation includes parents as part of the program. Parents are asked to accompany their child for the evening, which will begin in the auditorium. There will be a general meeting that explains schedules, policies, and procedures. Following the meeting, staff will be on hand to assist students in the hallway and opening their lockers for the first time. Parents will remain in the auditorium to discuss other issues of importance.

It is our expectation that this format will provide everyone with an opportunity to get acquainted and ease the anxieties inherent with the transition from elementary to secondary school.
