District Students are Off to a Great Start

Posted Date: 9/07/25 (12:15 PM)

Blue skies and cool breezes were the backdrop for the opening of the district’s first day of school on Sept. 2. As students approached Mattituck Jr. Sr. High School and Cutchogue East Elementary School in buses, cars or on foot, they were warmly and enthusiastically greeted by administrators, faculty, staff and members of the Southold Police Department.

As a rite of passage, seniors  who obtained a parking permit, were allowed to park at the high school this school year. To mark the special and long-awaited occasion, the students pulled up to the parking lot with colorfully decorated automobiles.

Although the morning was filled with new academic experiences and a lot of excitement, the educational community settled down to the business of making the 2025-2026 school year one of the district’s most successful to date.
