Charlie Carter Selected to NYSPHSAA Statewide Leadership Committee
Mattituck Jr.-Sr. High School is proud to announce that junior Charlie Carter has been selected to represent Section XI on the 2025-2026 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, a prestigious statewide leadership group composed of student-athletes across New York State.
The SAAC provides student-athletes with a formal voice within NYSPHSAA and plays a vital role in shaping the high school athletic experience statewide. The SAAC consists of one male and one female representative from each NYSPHSAA section. The committee addresses issues relevant to high school athletics and collaborates with the Association to develop policies and initiatives promoting sportsmanship, leadership and inclusion; student-athlete well-being and safety; statewide programs like Scholar-Athlete, Life of an Athlete and Student Leadership; and stronger connections between student-athletes, coaches and administration. SAAC members serve one term, with juniors eligible for a second term. Members are also expected to model exemplary leadership and act as a role model for their schools and communities.
Charlie is a dedicated and well-rounded student-athlete who competes in boys soccer, basketball and lacrosse. Beyond athletics, he serves as class president and is the founder of Play It Forward, an initiative that unites student-athletes through impactful service projects. Charlie previously represented Section XI at the NYSPHSAA Student Leadership Conference and now looks forward to continuing his leadership journey with SAAC.
“I’m honored to serve on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee,” Charlie said. “My goal is to give back to the athletic community and ensure that every student-athletes feels included, valued and supported.
The Mattituck-Cutchogue UFSD congratulates Charlie on this outstanding achievement and is proud to see one of its own lead and inspire student-athletes across New York State.
